Fantastic write up! I have to admit I'm in the minority of not thinking ANORA is the greatest film of the year. I too found it stretched out for a longer runtime than I think it warranted. Nice to hear I'm not alone.

It seems to be more of a majority now, you know! Understandably so - I think I was blinded by the excitement of seeing it at a festival - I'd probably feel similar on a rewatch!

I had written a note about seeing it and how the part where she's being questioned in the house was almost enough to make me leave. It went on way too long and it just wasn't believable. No way a smart character like that would just keep screaming to be let go. She's be smart enough to know there was no escape. To me the best scene was when Igor took the bat out of the other guys hand so quickly in the candy shop. It solidified what I think the point of the film was and that is, you don't know who you are really dealing with.

Oof love that end bit - very true. At its heart, a film about deceit and deception really. I like your interpretation and agree that she was smart! What did you think of the ending?

I liked it because I'm still not sure about it. haha. I think it's incredibly complex because she seems to not know why she is doing what she does, but it's the only way she can express her feelings. I think she realizes that at the very end.
